ARTIST STATEMENT: ABOUT ME

Photography has been a great outlet for me since I became disabled. Dealing with chronic pain has not been something that you can control. With having a camera in my hands gives me some control in my life to enjoy instead of the pain.Having to go back to school in my forties was one of the hardest things that I would start again. It has been a challenge for me since I have been out of school for over 20 years. But it has been very rewarding and hard work at the same time. When having to learn all over again. Taking photos has true meaning to me being able to catch that special shot of someone or something. Being able to look at one's photos after the process of developing one's own film makes you appreciate the whole process it takes to catcher that one moment. Black and white photography has an amazing process which for me makes the picture more meaningful. Its an outlet being able to make a photo and seeing the process before your eyes. It gives me a feeling that I can still learn and do something that I love. In black and white photography there is so much to learn and with time I hope to learn as much as I can to be able to catch special moments to share with the world.
